voice-over

Definition:
Commentary heard on a TV or cinema commercial but not spoken by any of the characters appearing on the screen. Ten-second TV commercials typically consist of a static visual plus a voice-over provided by a station announcer. Often contracted to V/0. MVO stands for 'male voice-over', which observation confirms that they usually are, regardless of target audience.
