Definition:
A term referring to the source of ideas for new industrial products. The new industrial product development process is said to be user-active when it is the customer who: (a) develops the idea for the new product; (b) selects a supplier capable of making the product; (c) takes the initiative to buy the product from the supplier, thus aiding the diffusion of that new product.
