teleshopping

Definition:
Literally 'shopping from a distance'. Currently teleshopping is largely limited to placing orders over the telephone. However, it is anticipated that in the not-too-distant future, shoppers will be able to call up information on their television screens and place orders directly with the supplier. The introduction of HOBS (Home and Office Banking System) by the Bank of Scotland whereby customers can make financial transactions via the television as a modem and a micro computer is clearly the shape of things to come.
