Definition:
When a salesman is given basic information or a contact which may help him focus his selling efforts and possibly result in a sale. Sales leads may come from enquiries to advertising, by referral from an existing customer or by following up other information, e. g. offering catering services, mortgages etc. to couples announcing their engagement.
