Regional Newspaper Advertising Bureau (RNAB)

Definition:
Disbanded very recently, RNAB was formed in 1980 by the merger of two variants concerned respectively with evening and weekly newspapers. Its purpose was to promote the general merits of advertising in regional newspapers, in pursuit of which it provided CIRCULATION and READERSHIP figures, broken down to the level of individual POSTCODES, generated by computer from the national census database. Its promotional remit appears to have been assumed by the NEWSPAPER SOCIETY and its research programme by the newly-formed JOINT INDUSTRY COMMITTEE FOR REGIONAL PRESS READERSHIP RESEARCH (JICREG).

Cross-References:
[readership] [circulation] [postcode] [Joint Industry Committee for Regional Press Readership Research (JICREG)] [Newspaper Society]
