palletization
Definition:
System of transporting goods on a platform, on which the goods remain throughout the journey. The advantage of the platform (pallet) is that it can accommodate mechanical handling methods (e.g. forklift trucks, etc.) thus reducing handling costs. A pallet may be no more than two strips of wood separated by two blocks, but more sophisticated versions in cardboard, plastic, or metal which may be reusable, are also available.
