marketing information system subsystems

Definition:
The individual subunits or modules that make up the MkIS. In a well developed, sophisticated system, there are eight modules: sales, forecasting, PRODUCT planning, MARKET RESEARCH, distribution, pricing, promotion and NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT. Data flows freely between the subsystems and externally to the Production Information System, Financial Information System etc. which collectively make up the Management Information System (MIS).
