law of statistical regularity

Definition:
Sampling is based on two fundamental principles of statistical theory which are usually termed the LAW OF INERTIA OF LARGE NUMBERS and the law of statistical regularity. The latter holds that any group of objects taken from a larger group will tend to possess the same characteristics as the larger group.
