Definition:
Sampling is based on two fundamental principles of statistical theory which are usually termed the LAW OF STATISTICAL REGULARITY and the law of inertia of large numbers. The latter law holds that large groups are more stable than small groups owing to the compensating effect of deviation in opposite directions.
