Definition:
A statement or an assumption which may be accepted or rejected on the basis of reasoning or research. In marketing research based on sample surveys, such acceptance or rejection may be based only on a level of confidence or PROBABILITY. Acceptance and rejection are to be distinguished from proof and disproof.
