escalator clause
Definition:
A clause in an agreement which specifies how prices will be adjusted to reflect increased costs. They are particularly prevalent in wage bargaining agreements when automatic wage increases will be triggered by rises in some specified index, e.g. the COST OF LIVING INDEX.
