entrepreneur

Definition:
The name given in economic theory to the owner-manager of the firm. The entrepreneur organizes resources or the factors of production (land, labour and capital) within their firm with the aim of building up a successful profit-making company. The entrepreneur is the risk-taker in business, the risk lies in the fact that their resources have to be committed to the enterprise. 'Entrepreneur' is a French word which means 'the one who undertakes tasks'.
