developed countries

Definition:
Those countries whose economies are industrial rather than agricultural or raw material producers, with a high and rising standard of living. They are both rich and technologically developed, and can readily absorb and adapt new industries wherever in the world they originate. They have the opposite characteristics to those found in DEVELOPING COUNTRIES and include North America, most of Western Europe, Australia, New Zealand and Japan.
