Definition:
Factual characteristics which define the composition of a POPULATION such as age, sex, marital status, family or household composition, income, education, occupation etc. In most countries such data are collected regularly by government agencies through censuses of the population. Demographics provides the foundation for most approaches to MARKET SEGMENTATION.
