chi-square goodness-of-fit test

Definition:
The statistical test based on the chi-square distribution. Not only used for contingency tables but also for the fit of Maximum Likelihood Factor Analysis; in that case when the test is significant, it suggests that there is too much unexplained (residual) variation to be able to be confident in the FACTOR ANALYSIS results.
