caveat emptor
Definition:
Let the buyer beware. This was, and still is in some instances, the legal judgement between buyer and seller. However as a result of the consumerist movement, CONSUMER PROTECTION legislation and more businesses adopting a more socially responsible attitude, the emphasis has changed more to let the seller beware!
