Review and Production Process

Interested in becoming a reviewer for one of our journals?

Review Process

All submitted papers are logged and given a reference number, which will be used in all correspondence throughout the review process.

Papers are then passed to the Journal Editor, who will desk review them and decide whether they are suitable submissions to the Journal. At this stage, authors will either receive a desk reject letter from the Editor or their paper will be put out for review.

All papers are double-blind reviewed and are sent to two reviewers whose interests and expertise lie within a relevant field. We hope to receive reviews back within 6-8 weeks and once both reviews have been received, the Editor will make a decision. Authors will be sent a copy of the reviewers’ comments and as a result of these comments, may be asked to revise and resubmit their paper. Resubmitted papers may then be returned to the original reviewers for further comment.

Production Process

If accepted for publication, authors will be asked to send a final copy of their paper (following the Journal’s Guidelines for Authors – available to download from the website) to the Editorial Office, where it will be formatted ready for publication.

A copyright assignment form will also be sent out at this stage, which all authors will be required to sign. Papers will not be published until the Publisher has received signed agreements from all the authors involved in the paper.

The author, or nominated author where the paper is co-authored, will be sent a PDF of their paper in proof format, which should be proofread and returned within a week of receipt. Authors can make minor corrections to their paper at this stage, either by e-mailing a list of changes or marking up a copy of the paper and returning it to the Editorial Office. The author, or nominated lead author will then receive a final PDF of their article, as it will appear in print, prior to publication. Details on author rights can be found in our pages about Self-Archiving.
